IPEX Consulting is delighted to announce that Umar Saleem has joined its growing team as a principal consultant. Umar is an experienced project manager and chartered engineer, with over 10 years’ experience in the rail industry, holding both the Association for Project Management Professional (APM) and PRINCE2 qualifications. He has recently worked for Hitachi as part of the requirements management team supporting the Class 800 variants to demonstrate design compliance to the customers across Intercity Express Programme, West of England and TransPennine Express Projects. He has developed the resident engineering process for the Class 385 project at the Hitachi facility in the UK and provided bid evaluation for CAF on the Jubilee Northern Additional Trains Project. He has provided project management for the Class 158/16X overhaul on behalf of Angel Trains at the Wabtec rail facility in Loughborough, significantly developing and improving the project reporting packs. He has managed a complex 15-year overhaul programme, modification programmes and maintenance operations on the Class 175 DMU fleet, along with managing the corrosion repair strategy and execution. He has supported major H3 overhaul and new vehicle integration on the Class 390 EMU fleet. He also has extensive experience within the quality control/assurance function and is a qualified lead auditor for ISO:9001. Umar’s strengths are project management and engineering, quality management, leadership and communication. He has demonstrable experience in the rolling stock maintenance environment with a proven track record in problem-solving and delivering customer satisfaction. He has a masters degree in aerospace engineering with business. He is an active STEM ambassador who understands the importance of reaching out and teaching the next generation.
