Depot Options Study

East Midlands Trains (EMT) had a requirement to identify maintenance facilities to support a new fleet of EMUs for operation on the Midland Main Line from December 2020. IPEX was retained to carry out a feasibility study to research and assess options, considering both existing facilities and potential locations for new build. IPEX confirmed the service specification, validated the depot facility requirements for EMU maintenance, benchmarked against industry best practice, evaluated a list of existing locations, developed and evaluated a list of ‘green field’ sites, identified key project risks, recommended mitigation plans, and identified nxYt steps for EMT and the Department for Transport.
